Will Oren Yoel Be Asher Roth's Dr. Dre?

I haven't given much (read: any) attention to Asher Roth, the seeming PG-13 Eminem sequel. I think that's changing now after having peeped the second video. White or black, any emcee is going to need beats if he's going to blow, and this one is a banger. Asher always had skills, but now he might have his Dre:

(Asher Roth's album, Asleep in the Bread Aisle is dropping April 20th (4/20) *WINK*
Eminem's Relapse is dropping May 19th.

methinks we'll see these two names linked together again. illroots got to peep Asher's"As I Em" and it's supposed to be nice.)

should be an interesting beat to pick up. and speaking of, said album production is held down mostly by Oren Yoel. so yeah, we're going to see what frat-rap has to offer, but some new blood on the production front would be a most excellent development.

Asher Roth is the AIG of music, a total disgrace and completely worthless. I wish him the worst.

^^Rhino: AIG of music? You don't think you're being a little harsh.

He's a little overhyped but far from harmful. I liked his A Millie freestyle.

He sounds close enough to Em that he's at risk for an attack from Slim Shady at any time.

BACK AT THE ALL CAPS REPLY... ANYONE THAT THINKS THIS IS GARBAGE MUST...

    A. NOT UNDERSTAND TRUE HIP HOP AND JUST STARTED LISTENING TO RAP IN THE LATE 1990's

    B. NOT HAVE ANY RESPECT OR KNOWLEDGE OF WHAT'S REALLY REAL. BECAUSE DEALIN' DRUGS, SHOOTIN' PEOPLE, AND LIVIN' THE "THUG LIFE" IS DUMB AS F*&K! IT'S NEVER HAD A POSITIVE ENDING!

    C. NOT HAVE A LARGE VOCABULARY AND FAIL TO UNDERSTAND HALF OF WHAT THIS KID IS SAYIN!

I'LL LEAVE YOU WITH THIS LITTLE NOTIFICATION:

ASHER ROTH IS AS REAL AS IT COMES HE ONLY TALKS ABOUT HIS OWN EXPERIENCES AND WHO HE IS. UNLIKE A LOT OF THE FAKE ASS RAPPERS THAT ARE RUNNIN THE GAME RIGHT NOW. GET USED TO THIS KID CAUSE HE'S HERE TO STAY. STEVE RIFKIN WHO SIGNED WU TANG BACK IN THE DAY SAYS HE'S THE BEST LYRICIST HE'S HEARD IN 10 YEARS! WELCOME TO GOOD MUSIC! ASHER, KiD CuDi, CHARLES HAMILTON, AND BOBBY RAY ARE THE FUTURE! YA'LL CAN KEEP LISTENING TO WAYNE AND HIS AUTOTUNED VOICE WHILE EVERYONE ELSE ENJOYS REAL TALENT.

    DEAR NEW JACK

I"VE BEEN LISTENING TO HIP HOP SINCE THE EARLY 80'S. RUN DMC IS HIP HOP. GRANDMASTER FLASH IS HIP HOP. KOOL HERC IS HIP HOP. PRIMO IS HIP HOP. WU TANG WAS THE SHIT BACK IN THE DAY.

IF YOU THINK THIS FLAVOR OF THE MONTH GIMMICK BULLSHIT IS HIP HOP YOU HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE. GO BACK AND DO YOUR HOMEWORK SON YOU HAVE ABOUT !0,000 HOURS OF LISTENING TO REAL MUSIC TO DO BEFORE YOU SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO COMMENT ON ANYTHING AGAIN. WHAT DO YOU THINK STEVE RIFKIN IS GONNA SAY ABOUT A DUDE ON HIS OWN LABEL? "UH, ACTUALLY HE'S AIIGHT".

IF THE WU TANG HAD MET THIS GUY WHEN 36 CHAMBERS DROPPED THEY WOULD HAVE BEAT HIS ASS SILLY AND LEFT HIM IN A DUMPSTER ON STATEN ISLAND FOR BEING CORNY.

    PLEASE.

It kind of says a lot about this all caps moron when his two standards or rap are either Lil'Wayne and Akon or Kid Cudi. This guy is so far from having a clue.

And yeah man, it's real tough to understand this Asher Roth dude. Getting hand jobs, smoking weed, having sex with baby's mothers, hanging out in malls in the suburbs, dude that's mind blowing shit there. Really challenging, unique subject matter.

    You've gotta be kidding right.

It's kind of alright to listen to but it's like drinking cheap sparkling wine; ultimately disappointing and headache-inducing.

  16. TAN,,, this is a joke right? i know it is..

One more artist i forgot to mention that performed for us in Florida 2 weeks ago was Asher Roth... This guy is just using the Emimen formula to cash in. HE SUCKS. He also performed in our offices last week in the Viacom building in Times Square.. HE SUCKS.

We'll give Emimen a tiny bit of cred because of his ties to Dre, but Asher is not that guy..

if this is what we should be looking forward to on the future of hip hop, then hip hop has bigger issues than we all thought... bring back the good hip hop, where the fuck is Wu Tang, Dre, and Rakim when you need them!!!

Asher Roth is more than a bit of a dork and not particularly entertaining. The beats are monstrously good, though, and Oren Yoel deserves every ray of the shine he is about to get. You will be hearing your favorite third-string backpackers rap over the instrumentals record on late-night scratchy college radio shows for years to come.
