But 'gro and behold, just when you think you can't stereotype black folk as
A police report says 27-year-old Fort Pierce resident Latreasa L. Goodman told authorities she paid for a 10-piece last week but was later informed the restaurant had run out.
She says she was refused a refund and told all sales were final. A cashier told police she offered Goodman a larger portion of different food for the same price, but Goodman became irate.
"This is an emergency. If I would have known they didn't have McNuggets, I wouldn’t have given my money, and now she wants to give me a McDouble, but I don’t want one," Goodman told police, according to The Stuart News. "This is an emergency."
So I join NY Mag's Vulture blog in declaring that the media should be focused on this woman (her name just HAD to be "Latreasa") instead of another octo-mom story.

'gro and behold, = classic
ReplyDeletefile this in the turrible hall of fame.
ReplyDeleteHall of Fame, for sure. This might be a Top 10 all time moment
ReplyDeleteFor what it's worth, she doesn't seem to fit the chubby profile.
ReplyDeleteI could see the two apple pies. Maybe a whopper jr. with cheese. Not the nuggets though.
ReplyDeleteMickey d's nuggets have gotten better over the last year or two, true story.
ReplyDeleteThe woman had a point, though. If you order the McNuggets and they take your money for McNuggets, they better hand over some effing McNuggets. "All sales are final" is a bullshit line to take when they never gave her what she wanted to buy. If they gave her the McNuggets and she tried to return them because she took one bite and decided she wasn't in the mood for McNuggets after all, fine, she doesn't get her money back. But they didn't give her what she bought! There was no final sale that had been completed! Give her back her goddanged money!
ReplyDeleteThe real story here is "Woman is robbed by major corporation, calls 911 in an attempt to reach the police." But I guess claiming she called 911 because they ran out of nuggets plays better. The fact that every news outlet in this country has taken that slant on this story is shameful.
ReplyDeleteOrange: y'know, I did gloss over the fact that she was refused a refund. She should have gotten her money back. I'm guessing there must have been some sort of beef/tension/passive-aggressive conflict that arose during the order process.
ReplyDeleteAnon: there's a point that, perhaps, this shouldn't be about piling on this woman. BUT, both storylines you list are accurate (calling 911 as an "Attempt to reach police", vs. because they're out of nuggets inventory), and really, you don't call 9-1-1 in either situation. If it happened at starbucks or a hardware store or the movie theater it would always be inappropriate to call 9-1-1.
Disrespect to a black woman, of course. A woman who feels she has no other options, check. Once you get pass the ridiculousness of the story, it's another day in inner- city America and it makes me want to holla!
ReplyDeleteEveryone knows you don't get a ten-piece, but rather three four-pieces off the value menu. It's cheaper, plus you get two extra nuggets. No police.
ReplyDeletei liked this one better
