Pharoahe Monch is my #1 hip hop artist who has the tools to crossover in a big way but hasn't yet. Here's a video that was only released on the internet cause it's a little too spicy for mainstream:
Hot track, but using hip-hop as a vehicle for a gun-control message? Shit didn't work in '89. Related: There's a reason he can't cross over-- he's not saying what people want to hear, for better or for worse.
Well someone has to take a stand and start demanding better hip and socially relevant hip hop. We are being force fed garbage..there is not even an ATTEMPT to promote and play hip hop like this...there is even a new track with Nas, Rakim, KRS-1, Kanye & Premier-legendary status.....time for a change.
hallelujah
